Recent Research Supports the Multi Modal Recovery Process (MMRP)
The best recent news is that a much higher percentage of people with a substance use disorder get better than had been previously thought. People get better. It just doesn’t happen the way we thought.
This interesting graph from research performed by the Addiction Research Foundation shows that in at least one sample, of the group that considers themselves to be in recovery only half say they are following treatment recommendations. Specifically, they are not going to support group meetings as directed.
We have learned how to facilitate a more natural process of recovery that is based in research about the many ways that people do recovery from Substance Use Disorders. Some people clearly do recovery using support groups. Others recovery in a variety of ways. We are working to accurately assess for those differences and support the best method for each individual.
